Pareidolia: Why We See Faces in Random Objects Have you ever looked at the clouds and noticed the shape of a bunny or a dragon? Or maybe you’ve spotted a smiling “face” on the front of a car? This fascinating brain trick is called Pareidolia. It’s a normal and common phenomenon that shows how our minds are wired to find meaning—even where none exists. What is Pareidolia? Pareidolia is the tendency of the human brain to perceive familiar patterns—especially faces—in random or vague stimuli , usually visual, so that one detects an object, pattern, or meaning where there is none. Pareidolia is a specific but common type of  apophenia  (the tendency to perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things or ideas). .   Conversion Disorder: When the Mind Speaks Through the Body Have you ever heard of someone suddenly losing their ability to walk, see, or speak—yet doctors find no medical explanation? This puzzling condition is known as Conversion Disorder, or more formally, Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (FNSD). What Is Conversion Disorder? Conversion disorder is a mental health condition in which a person develops neurological-like symptoms that can’t be explained by medical tests or a physical illness. The symptoms are very real to the individual, even though they arise from psychological distress rather than a physical disease. It’s as if the mind, overwhelmed by stress or trauma, “converts” emotional pain into physical symptoms.
